Yearbook

Information updated as of 8/16/2010

Yearbook Sales & Info

Welcome Back, Vikings!

The Valhal yearbook hopes that by providing clear information as early as possible, more people will be featured in the yearbook, more people will be able to purchase the yearbook, and our own production will go more smoothly as well. Please check here periodically for updates.

Yearbook Sales

Sales got off to a bang, with approximately 600 books sold during orientation. Now in our second year of combined online and on-site sales, you may purchase a book in the manner most convenient for you. However you buy your book, the best price and best value are available early in the year; prices will only get higher, so don't delay! Prices for 2010-2011 (Note: this information has been revised slightly ):

Through September:

Yearbook/ASB combined: $80 | Yearbook only: $75 (on site only) | ASB only: $25 (on site only)

October: Yearbook/ASB combined: $85 (on site only) | Yearbook only: $80 | ASB only: $25 (on site only)

November 2010 through March 2011: Yearbook only: $90

April, 2011: Yearbook only: $95

BOLD items are avaiable online or on site

Online sales will be assessed a $2 per book service charge. Secure online sales are available at yearbookforever.com, and payable by credit card or echeck. A customer service phone line is available. Finally, we will sell books following distribution for $100 cash only, first come, first served, as available. There is a strong incentive to buy your book early.

If you choose to buy your book on site through the business office, p lease clearly note on the check the first and last name of the person for whom the yearbook is being purchased.

Senior Parent Ads – Due Friday, October 1 st , 2010

More information and an order form for senior parent ads are in the Messenger and here. Order forms will be available on campus as well. Parent ads continue to be a vital part of the Montgomery yearbook. We encourage you to keep up this wonderful tradition, and take advantage of the enduring forum the yearbook presents to tell your senior how you feel about him or her.

Senior Portraits - Due Friday, October 29th, 2010

You may use any photographer you choose. If you have not done so already, we encourage you to schedule your session as soon as possible, to ensure that your photo will be completed in time for inclusion in the yearbook. You should clearly determine with your photographer who is responsible for submitting the photo to the yearbook.

We do accept non-traditional or amateur portraits, but we reserve the right to request an alternate photo if we deem a submission inappropriate or of insufficient photographic quality. All school guidelines regarding unacceptable drug, alcohol, sexual, or gang-related content should be followed.

Senior portraits are due in to the yearbook by Friday, October 29 th , 2010 . If you do not submit a portrait, you will not be featured in the senior section. Please spell your name exactly how you want it to appear in the yearbook when you submit your portrait. Write your name on the back of any hard copies submitted, and on any CDs submitted. If emailed, be sure to name the photo “last name, first name.”

Portraits shot digitally should be submitted to us as a JPEG file, at 300 dpi for a wallet size photo. In the environmental interest of using fewer CDs, you may email it as an attachment to us at montyportraits@gmail.com , or you may submit it on a clearly labeled CD to the yearbook basket in the main office. (Photos embedded in Word documents are useless – please do not submit these.) Traditional hard copy photos printed from a film negative, not from a digital file, are acceptable too. Formal portraits should follow these guidelines:

•  Wallet size (larger is okay, but not necessary)

•  Head size approximately 1 ¼ inch

•  Color

•  Vertical orientation

We will provide a free yearbook-only photo session for those students who do not purchase a senior portrait. We want every senior in the senior section. Check here for the date when announced.

Business Ads – Due Friday, November 19 th , 2010

If you are interested in placing an ad for your business, these are due November 19 th . Please call the yearbook for more information on rates, etc.

As always, the Valhal staff thanks you for your support, and hopes you have a great year.
